The Happy Tree is an interactive playground tree targeted for children from 4 to 6 years old. The cuddle-friendly tree is made from fabric, is lit and makes noise when you hit, shake or move the pillows that are hanging from the top.
The harder you move them, the louder the noise – by this effect children can discover cause and effect, which is a relationship between events that children from this age start to understand. In the playtree you’ll find Lorre the Parrot, who will make itself heard to trigger interaction and can even show emotions when you’re playing too wild with the pillows
This project is the result of a group assignment during my study to think of, design and build an interactive installation for the Cinekid Festival.
